Acadia Fabric Structure, LLC
Acadia Fabric Structure, LLC is a manufacturer of large and small scale tension fabric products.  The owner, Daniel M. Leaden, considers himself to be little more than a modern day tent maker.  Combining high-tech computer aided design with the elementary concept that is the hyperbolic parabola.  As an artist and fabricator, Daniel brings to the table over 19 years in the industrial fabric industry (see resume/portfolio). Having worked for some of the industry leaders in the field of tension membrane structures, he has the experience and first hand knowledge that makes each project easy to understand and always unique.  Acadia Fabric Structure, LLC in studio space with an architectural steel frames roof clad with PVD coated, fiberglass reinforces, transluscent white tensioned fabric.

Tension Fabric Structures/ Custom Tents
A combination of fabric art and tension structure technology.  Using the fabrics strengths and characteristics to create a natural hyperbolic parabola.  Woven fabrics typically have two opposing lines or thread intersecting at right angles, the warp which runs the length of the roll and the fill which runs across the roll.  Apply force or tension to these opposing lines and you get an anticlastic geodesic surface which resembles a saddle shape.

  • Computer Aided Design- Surfacing software made specifically for the Tension Fabric Industry helps with form finding, load analysis and pattern making.  3D Models and Physical Scale Models are used to present potential applications.
  • Fabric - Fabrics include: marine cotton, poly cotton blends, acrylics, mesh and heavy duty coated vinyl and structurally engineered fabrics.  Each of these fabrics react the same under tension.  Some require more tension than others.  This will lead into the different types of fastening hardware required.  Each of these factors will effect price.
  • Graphics - Airbrush, Silk-screen, Large Format Digital Imaging, Electrostatic Dye sublimation, Aggressive adhesive fabric or film (vinyl, dacron, nylon, polyester)
